Two villagers from Ngalbual village die from ZRA-EC torture U Kam Lian Thang and his brother-in-law U Dal Muan Kim, both from Ngalbual village in Tedim Township, Chin State, were arrested and beaten to death by Zomi Revolutionary Army-Eastern Command (ZRA-EC) troops on the night of February 5, 2025 after visiting his brother-in-law U Dal Muan Kim’s house.
On the way back, U Kam Lian Thang was beaten until he lost consciousness by ZRA-EC troops on the night of February 5, saying he had not obeyed the curfew. The next day, on February 6, U Kam Lian Thang’s brother-in-law U Dal Muan Kim, (23 yrs.), was also taken to their camp by ZRA-EC troops and beaten until he died, according to a person familiar with the situation.
U Dal Muan Kim a school teacher, is survived by his wife and daughter. U Kam Lian Thang also died on February 8 from injuries sustained in the beating. Regarding the incident, ZRA-EC leaders have visited the families of the deceased to express their condolences in accordance with Chin / Zomi tradition. Currently, ZRA-EC has deployed troops in Ngalbual village, Tedim Township, and is taking turns to guard the village, and has imposed a curfew after 8 p.m., according to local residents.
