The Myanmar military coup d’état bombed a school in Vanha village, Hakha Township, Chin State, at around 10:30 a.m. on October 13, 2025 killing two students, Johan and Zin Cer, and injuring others, according to local residents.
Regarding the incident, a Vanha villager said, “Young brothers and sisters, you were studying without knowing anything, but you lost your lives because of the country’s collapse. You are not going to die of heartbreak. We were all there, even if we stood by you, we could not save you. ” He continued, “The terrorist army’s airstrike killed Johan on the spot, while Zin Cer was seriously injured and could not bear it anymore. I could not even open my eyes and I thought I was going to die,” and he died in tears.
Vanha village is just over 20 miles from Hakha town and there are no revolutionary forces stationed there. The bombing destroyed the Van Ha village school and damaged homes. At around 7 p.m. on October 8, the military commission’s airstrikes targeted schools in Wama Thu and Tin Chaung villages in Mindat Township, killing three students and a disabled woman and injuring more than 20 others.
