Karen National Union (KNU); Chin National Front (CNF) and All Myanmar Students Democratic Front (ABSDF) did not attend. KNU spokesperson Pado Saw Toni said today, October 15th, that the NCA contract is completely gone since the military council has destroyed the cease-fire agreements and political talks, even though it actively participated in the NCA.
General Secretary of the All Myanmar Students Democratic Front (ABSDF), Comrade Sonny, said that although he was invited by the Military Council, he did not attend because the NCA had ended. The NCA agreement was signed in 2015 under U Thein Sein’s government by eight ethnic armed groups, KNU, KNU/KNLA-PC); DKBA CNF PNLO ABSDF The ALP and RCSS joined and started signing.
In 2018 during the NLD government, the Lahu Democratic Union (LDU), The New Mon State Party (NMSP) also signed the NCA agreement, bringing the number of groups that have signed the NCA to ten. After the military coup, the Karen National Union (KNU); The Chin National Front (CNF) and the All Myanmar Students Democratic Front (ABSDF) opposed the military coup and did not hold talks with the military council.
