The Chinland Council forces, which are joined by the CNA and the Chin Defense Force (CDF), launched a counter attack on the Military council bases between Hakha and Thantlang townships from November 22, and captured the last remaining Auto Hill base on December 8 after 17 days of fighting CNA Spokesman Salai Hteet Ni confirmed.
“Today, the fighting lasted all day and we were able to take control at 3:30-4:00 pm. We have recovered some weapons. We have also recovered some ammunition. However, we are currently clearing the ground so, we do not know the exact extent of the damage. It seems that some (military council members) have retreated back towards Thantlang township,” Salai Htet Ni said. Therefore, the fighting continues between Thantlang and Otto Hill, and the military council is providing air support.
“The Chinland Council Joint forces captured Auto Hill camp at 3:30 pm. However, the number of SAC casualties is not known. Some SAC are known to have retreated to Thantlang town. Some weapons and ammunition were also seized. Now SAC aircraft are bombing the south of Auto Hill,” said a Chin source.
With the capture of Auto Hill camp, there are no more SAC camps between Hakha and Thantlang townships, but the SAC is preparing to launch an offensive from Hakha to regain the lost bases, and fighting is also ongoing in Hakha, Salai Htet Ni said.
The Chinland Council Joint Forces attacked and captured the Military Council camps between Hakha and Thantlang from July 22nd for the battle to capture Thantlang, and all the camps were captured. Later, the Military Council used air, artillery, and reinforcements to retake the camps between Hakha and Thantlang, and the Chinland Council Joint Forces launched a counterattack from November 22nd and captured all the Military council camps within 17 days.
“If we can control them there, they think that they have threatened Hakha. That is why, we are continuing try to control them from Hakha. Now we have captured 8 camps. More than 30 SSA have died. This is solid news. There are about 40 wounded. We captured 20 alive. There are about 60 weapons today,” Salai Htet Ni said.
Salai Htet Ni also said that they have obtained tens of thousands of bullets. It is reported that reinforcements, artillery and air support may be launched from Hakha, and fighting may continue.
The Chinland Council Joint Forces are carrying out such operations with the support of the people, and Salai Htet Ni expressed his gratitude to the people and appealed for their continued support.
