The Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP/SSA) announced today that the Military Council army suffered many casualties during the fighting that took place in Lecha Township, Southern Shan State. The military council army launched an offensive and the battle took place from the morning to the evening of August 6. One SSPP soldier was killed and at least 10 members of the military council were killed.
Two soldiers of the military council were arrested and a military vehicle was also seized. After the fighting between the two sides, the military council said that they banned movement in Panglong – Lecha – Man Naung and the entrance to the Namthein Bridge in Lecha township.
As a result of the battle, the village of Naunggai, which is close to the battle of Haisai group in Lecha township, Nam Pho Village Local villagers from Nam Lok villages have fled to Hai Sai village, and Matlang village have fled to Le Cha town.
The SSPP stated that the military tension in the region is still high and there may be more fighting. SSPP spokesperson Lt. Col. Sai Su told the Media yesterday that the military council had informed them to removed 10 SSPP camp sites in the area, but SSPP did not accept it, and the military council went on the offensive and fought.
