The ethnic armed groups who are fighting against the military dictatorship to end all the ways and activities of the dictatorship. Karen National Union (KNU) President Pado Saw Kwe Htoo Win said that he will cooperate with people-based organizations, including democratic forces.
He pointed out that although the army is still using bigotry and military dictatorship, there is still no unity among those who are fighting for reform, including the Karen people. Pado Saw Kwe Htoo Win said that we must gather all groups and work until the fate of the army is returned to the hands of the people. Although the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) was signed, the KNU has revealed that the NCA has been destroyed since the military coup.
The KNU, which controls the Burmese-Thai border areas in Karen State, Mon State, Bago Division, and Tanintharyi Division, joined the armed resistance after the military coup. According to the statistics of the KNU center, during the two and a half years of the military coup, more than 10,000 clashes took place in the KNU area, and nearly 600,000 civilians have fled their homes.
