The PDF Zoland issued a statement on the evening of January 14 stating that it will not hand over Tedim land to any organization including the Military Council, CNF, or its allies, PDA, and will decisively fight back against any invasion despite the ban, and will work with the ICNCC/CB to do so.

The statement was issued under the title “Presenting the Current Chin State Issue to the People,” and came hours after the Tedim Township Council/PDA-Tedim issued a statement regarding the Tedim township’s retake. The statement stated, “Recently, there have been many rumors circulating online about the Chin State issue, so we would like to briefly present the current Chin State issue to all the people of Chin State and around the world.

The Chin Brotherhood (CB), the defense force of the Interim Consultative Council of Chin State (ICNCC), has made plans to drive out the military council forces from the Zomi capital of Tedim and establish a liberated area. The Chin National Front/CNA is using the People Defence Army (PDA) as a pawn to attempt to seize Tedim. The actions of the CNF/CNA and its allies are clearly aimed at profiteering and gaining political power over their own land, without any regard for the interests of the people. The tragic incident that occurred in Tedim in May 2024 is also due to their interference,” ZFU/PDF-Zoland issued a statement.

Regarding the current military plan, it stated that “the people will be informed in a timely manner as necessary regarding the military.” The statement stated that the purpose of the statement was “to expose the abuses of the military council, PDA, CNF and their associates. If those associated with these organizations do not prepare in time, they will face public judgment one day, which will cause great harm to them.”

It also stated that “the ZFU/PDF Zoland will not stand idly by and watch any organization that tries to oppress the Zomi people’s right to self-determination.” The Tedim Township Council’s statement on January 14 added that “the battle to take Tedim town will be carried out by the Tedim Township Council’s defense force, PDA-Tedim, together with allied forces, and no organization has the right to object.”

There are four Chin resistance groups in Tedim Township: PDA-Tedim, PDF-Zoland, CDF-CDM Siyin, and CDF-Hualngoram. Apart from PDF-Zoland, the remaining three groups, PDA-Tedim, CDF-CDM Siyin, and CDF-Hualngoram, are affiliated with the Chinland Council.

PDF-Zoland’s military chief Pu Gideon said, “This is not the first time that the CC has interfered with the CB’s territory from the rear during the Chin Brotherhood operations. They also interfered during the battle to capture Matupi. If they interfere again, they will be considered as enemies of the CB. They have not been considered as enemies to this day, so we need to explain why.” At around 8 p.m. on January 14, the 269th Battalion in Tedim Township fired heavy weapons at the Tedim Township golf course, according to residents of Tedim Township.
