A local military source and officials said that the rebel forces have captured five military council bases in southern Kalay Township, Sagaing Region. The Military council and Pyu Saw Htee suffered heavy casualties and about 30 wounded in the battles to capture the bases. “The only ones that can be captured are the military bases on the Kalay-Gangaw road. The military council situation is such that five enemy bases can be captured,” said an official from the Kalay township’s People’s Administration.

According to the military source, the five bases captured by the rebel forces are the military bases in Kabarni, Aung Thayar (new and old villages), Mantaw and Kanthayar villages. “They also have a lot of weapons,” he added. The military bases in southern Kalay were attacked on February 11 and five bases were captured on February 16, 2025.
