In Serchhip District, Mizoram State, India, officials seized a pickup truck that was being transported to Myanmar on November 6th at 4:00 a.m. today. Serchhip Police and Assam Rifles joint forces conducted an operation based on the information they received in advance and after checking a Yodha type car at the Sailiamkawn check post near Serchhip, they seized the mine and related materials.

Mines and related materials were brought by two local residents of Lunghlei District, Thingsel village and 48 packages of landmines, 94 packages of detonators, and five sets of fire cords (Gelatin 48 boxes, Detonator 94 boxes, Coils Fuse – 5) were arrested.

The local news reported that those who were arrested testified that the mines and related materials were brought to Myanmar. Serchhip police have opened a case against those who were arrested with mines and related materials, and are investigating those related to them. The two will be brought to court today.
