The Netherlands is ready to deliver at least 24 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine’s air force, Dutch Defense Minister Ms. Kajsa Ollongren said on February 5. The first batch was originally planned to be 18, but 6 more could be added, so at least 24 are ready, Ollongren said.

The defense minister of the Netherlands said that it is important for the Ukrainian Air Force to have enough fighter jets in order to resist the Russian aggression, so it will send 6 more fighter jets. As the Royal Dutch Air Force is being replaced by US-made F-35 fighter jets, the Dutch government has prepared to sell back its existing F-16 fighter jets. At the time of the Russian invasion, plans to resell were put on hold and the unsold aircraft were sent to Ukraine.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the decision of the Dutch government, and the Minister of Defense of Russia, Sergei Shoigu, said that the Russian Air Defense Forces will be able to shoot down the F-16 fighter jets within a month, so it will not change the results of the special operation.
