The Italian-based command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) has been deployed to the eastern Mediterranean since October 18, the US 6th Naval Headquarters reported. The U.S. 7th Brigade, which is in the Mediterranean Sea, is said to support the battleship groups.
The US Pentagon has already dispatched two attack groups led by the aircraft carriers USS Gerald R. Ford and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, and is also deploying more fighter jets to military bases based in Mediterranean countries.
