Russia Threatens to Respond Harshly once Ukraine starts Using F-16 Fighter Jets
The U.S. will not provide fighter jets to Ukraine itself, but has said it accepts the plans of its European allies. Currently, some European countries are discussing training Ukrainian pilots to familiarize them with F-16s. It will likely take several more months to train the pilots and get the aircraft to the point where they are actually ready for combat.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that Russia is seriously monitoring the issue of plans to transfer F-16s to Ukraine. Russia will not turn a blind eye to the fact that F-16s can carry nuclear weapons and fight.
